Around Town

FY 26 Street Improvements Project

On March 26, the Town Council approved the construction bid award for the 2026 Street Improvements Project. Starting this month and continuing through June, construction crews will focus on replacing non-compliant pedestrian curb ramps. Once that work is complete, they will switch to milling and paving, with completion expected before the end of the year. Good Hope Farm Summer CSA Program Open for Registration

Don’t miss your chance to eat locally this summer with Good Hope Farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program! With a one-time fee, participants pick up farm-fresh produce bags once a week for eight weeks, every Thursday evening from June 11 to July 30. The produce varies, featuring seasonal favorites like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and okra. Large shares, sized for a family, are $240 per season, and small shares, for a couple, are $160 per season.

Dog Daze and Pet Expo

Cary Animal Services will host Cary Dog Daze and Pet Expo on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cary Police Department. This free, family-friendly event invites animal lovers of all ages to celebrate pets and the people who care for them. Attendees can meet local animal rescues featuring dogs, cats, and wildlife, watch canine athletes take on the agility course, and explore offerings from pet vendors showcasing a variety of products and services. The event will also include food trucks and demonstrations by expert trainers.

Concert: Triangle Wind Ensemble Presents Maslanka Symphony No. 4

Cary Arts Center, 4 p.m.
When members were asked to choose a work to celebrate our 25th season, one rose clearly above the rest: David Maslanka’s powerful "Symphony No. 4". The program will also feature the world premiere of a newly commissioned animation by NC State professor Marc Russo. Building on the success of our 2019 collaboration on "Sheltering Sky", we sought to pair visual storytelling with wind band music once again — this time selecting Brian Balmages’ "Shadows Unleashed", a piece accessible to middle school ensembles. Following the premiere, the animation will be made available to school bands worldwide for use in their own performances.
