Around Town

FY 26 Street Improvements Project

On March 26, the Town Council approved the construction bid award for the 2026 Street Improvements Project. Starting this week and continuing through June, construction crews will focus on replacing non-compliant pedestrian curb ramps. Once that work is complete, they will switch to milling and paving, with completion expected before the end of the year. McCrimmon Parkway Pedestrian Improvements Community Meeting

Cary staff will host an open-house-style community meeting on Tuesday, May 5, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Hive, 712 Splash Pine Drive, to share updates on the progress of the McCrimmon Parkway Pedestrian Improvements. All interested residents are invited to stop by, review project details, and ask questions. There will be no formal presentation; attendees may arrive at any time during the meeting. Learn more.

Celebrate Historic Preservation Month this May by discovering the stories and places that help shape Cary’s identity. Join the all-month History Hunt in downtown Cary, connect with Commissioners at the Historic Preservation Commission table during Herbfest, and explore Cary’s evolving landscape at the “Changing Face of Downtown Cary” presentation on May 21.

Celebrate Bike Month in Cary

Celebrate Bike Month this May by exploring Cary on two wheels and discovering how biking connects our community. Join the Bike Cary Bingo challenge for a fun, interactive ride around town, make a stop along your ride at Bond Park's boathouse during May to pick up a free snowcone, and take a self-guided journey through history with the Black History Bicycle Tour. Kick off Bike Month on Friday during Bands, Bites, and Boats with a bike parade sponsored by Cary Teen Council. Don't forget to decorate your ride. From group rides and hands-on workshops to family-friendly events and greenway adventures, there are plenty of opportunities all month long to get out, ride safe, and enjoy Cary by bike.

Our second annual International Day of Dance comes to the Park with free performances, workshops, and classes for all ages! Classes are organized by Graceful Expressions and do not require pre-registration; just show up and join in. All levels of experience are welcome! The day will finish with performances featuring community groups from all around Cary.

Join the Cary Farmers Market at its location on Park Street next to Downtown Cary Park! Each Saturday, you will find a wonderful lineup of vendors offering only locally made and grown items. Shop for freshly-harvested produce, handmade local food, and artisan-made goods. Stop by the info booth to learn about their SNAP/EBT matching program. Children can also get their very own Farmers Market Passport and participate in the Eat-A-Rainbow program, which encourages children to eat healthy, nutritious foods.
