Around Town

Annual Water Disinfection Switchover 

In accordance with state and federal recommendations, the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility will temporarily stop adding ammonia to its water treatment disinfection process beginning Friday, February 27. During the switchover, citizens may notice that the water is slightly discolored and that the chlorine odor increases. These minor changes are temporary and a normal part of the annual process. Our water remains safe to drink during this period. Customers with health concerns should contact their healthcare provider. Learn more at carync.gov/waterchange.

Mayor's 2026 State of Cary Address

Mayor Weinbrecht’s annual State of Cary highlights shared accomplishments and progress aligned with the Council's vision for the Town. Residents and community members are invited to attend Mayor Harold Weinbrecht's 2026 State of Cary address on Thursday, March 5, at Cary Town Hall at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask questions. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be cablecast live on Cary TV (Spectrum channel 11) and livestreamed on carync.tv, as well as on the Town’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Residents can also watch the recorded 2026 presentation, review the slides, and read the address online at carync.gov/stateofcary.

Cary Releases FY 2026 Q2 Quarterly Report

The Town of Cary has released its FY 2026 Second Quarter Report to Council,

The Soccer Tournament (TST) Tickets Pre-Sale is Officially Live! 

The Soccer Tournament is returning to Cary for the 4th year in a row and for the next week you can get 15% off all tickets by entering the Pre-Sale! Fans will experience three $1 million competitions featuring world-class athletes and celebrities, as well as TST’s one-of-a-kind Global Soccer Festival featuring international food and beverage, meet and greets, live entertainment, and family fun for all! My Tree, Our Tree is Open for Registration

This free forestry program is open to Cary citizens and includes three native tree species to choose from, while supplies last — Sweetbay Magnolia, American Snowbell, or Swamp White Oak. The pickup event takes place on March 28 in conjunction with Cary’s Arbor Day celebration on Town Hall campus. Visit carync.gov/mytreeourtree for more information and to register.

Registration Now Open for Compost Workshops

Pick up compost and learn how to manage your own backyard bin! Cary’s compost workshops are now open for registration. Participants will receive bagged compost, guidebooks, and expert instructions for transforming their kitchen scraps into an environmental resource. Taking place at Cary’s historic Good Hope Farm from March 6 – 9, these classes are perfect preparation for your spring planting projects. Register here.

2026 Biennial Survey

Every two years, Cary issues a citizen satisfaction survey to a group of randomly selected citizens to gauge its effectiveness in its mission and measure overall citizen confidence in town operations. Starting January 12, consultants working on behalf of the Town of Cary will contact citizens and ask questions on safety, service, communications, transportation, recreation, and the environment. Click here to learn more about past citizen summaries and complete reports.

Join the Cary Farmers Market at its location on Park Street next to Downtown Cary Park! Each Saturday, you will find a wonderful lineup of vendors offering all locally-made and locally-grown items. Shop for freshly-harvested produce, handmade local food, and artisan-made goods. Stop by the info booth to learn about their matching program for SNAP/EBT. Children can also get their very own Farmers Market Passport and participate in the Eat-A-Rainbow program, which encourages children to eat healthy, nutritious foods.
