Most staffed facilities, including Town Hall, will close Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Cary will modify several operations and services during the holiday. Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day the week of September 7. Residents can view their collection schedule at carync.gov/carycollects or in the Cary Collects app. The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed on September 7. Register for Your Free Native Tree
The My Tree, Our Tree program is open for registration. We have five native trees available for registration while supplies last, with pickup on October 10 at the Herb Young Community Center. This free forestry program is open to Cary citizens and includes red maple, serviceberry, American hornbeam, sweetbay magnolia, and overcup oak. Cary’s Annual Wastewater Report is now available online. The report shares system facts, performance data, treatment facility information, and tips to help prevent blockages. White Oak Greenway Closure
A portion of the White Oak Greenway will be temporarily closed at Green Level Church Road for maintenance repairs. The closure includes the boardwalk section before the trail continues toward Apex and is expected to remain in place through September 30. There is currently no detour available. American Tobacco Trail Closure
A section of the American Tobacco Trail in Wake County will be closed starting Wednesday, September 2, while crews repair areas damaged by a landslide during Hurricane Helene in 2024. The closure will last through the end of October. The closure will extend from the Wimberly Road parking area to the entrance of the White Oak Creek Greenway. Heavy Traffic Anticipated Near Cary Tennis Park During Pickleball National Championships
Drivers traveling near or to the Cary Tennis Park now through September 6 should expect increased traffic and changes to parking access for the Veolia Pickleball National Championships. There will be no on-site parking available for the general public. All general spectator parking will be located at Phillips Farm, with a complimentary shuttle service running continuously, every 15-20 minutes, between the lot and Cary Tennis Park throughout the tournament. Public Safety Day
Downtown Cary, 11 a.m. Join Cary Police and Fire, EMS, other local municipalities, and community partners along S. Academy Street for this free, family-friendly event. Public Safety Day will feature interactive attractions, agency showcases, food trucks, and more than 30 public safety vehicles, including fire trucks and an armored vehicle, giving families an up-close look at the people, equipment, and partnerships behind Cary's approach to community safety. Lowe's Home Improvement will have building kits for kids at their tent for the first 400 visitors, and the first 500 kids to complete the event scavenger hunt will receive a voucher for a free snow cone from Pelicans to use at the event.
